It was from this studio that the LEC announced its partnership with Neom in 2020, only to face major community backlash over human rights abuses in Saudi Arabia, including criminalization of LGBT people. The partnership was called off the next day, and two days later, the league's Director of Esports EMEA, Alberto Guerrero, issued a statement apologizing to the community, with emphasis on apologizing to 'women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and League of Legends players in the Middle East'. The arena also witnessed the league's expansion in 2023, when Turkey, CIS and MENA merged with Europe to form the EMEA region, rebranding the league to the League of Legends EMEA Championship. Since then, the studio has hosted the new three-split format, with the top teams qualifying for international events: the First Stand Tournament, the Mid-Season Invitational, and the World Championship.
